From Lake to Sea: Our First Tandem Paddle boarding Adventure on Hayling Island
Well, folks, it's finally happening! The moment we've been anticipating for weeks (and secretly stressing about a little) is upon us: our first-ever tandem paddle boarding adventure in the sea!
If you've been following along on our sailing adventures aboard Starbuck, you'll know that we're relatively new to paddle boarding. Our sole experience thus far was a blissful hour on a calm lake in France. The serenity, the gentle rocking, the feeling of gliding across the water – we were instantly hooked.
So, of course, the next logical step was to buy a tandem paddleboard. Why not share the fun, right? And let me tell you, this Bluefin Carbon Cruise 15' is a beaut! It's sleek, sturdy, and promises a smooth ride – at least that's what the reviews say!
Why Hayling Island?
Choosing our first sea paddleboarding location wasn't taken lightly. We wanted somewhere that offered a gentle introduction to the sea's unique challenges. After much research, Hayling Island came out on top.
This evening, the conditions are forecast to be near-perfect for us newbies. The waves are predicted to be small, and the wind should be minimal. We're also aiming to be there around high tide, as we've heard this can make the experience even smoother. Fingers crossed!
A Mix of Excitement and Nerves
If I'm being honest, I'm a whirlwind of emotions right now. The excitement is almost palpable. I can practically feel the salt spray on my face and the sun on my skin. But there's definitely a healthy dose of nerves mixed in.
After all, the sea is a whole different beast compared to a lake. We'll have to contend with currents, tides, and the unpredictable nature of the open water. But hey, that's part of the adventure, isn't it?
What We're Hoping For
Our expectations for this evening are fairly modest. First and foremost, we want to stay on the board! We're also eager to experience the unique sensation of paddleboarding in the sea. Will the salt water feel different against our paddles? Will the sounds of the waves add to the tranquility? And will we manage to spot any of the local wildlife? Only time will tell.
Most importantly, we're hoping to have a blast and create some unforgettable memories together. We'll be sure to capture plenty of photos and videos to share with you all.
Wish Us Luck!
So, wish us luck as we embark on this new adventure! We'll be back with a full report (and hopefully some hilarious stories) in the next blog post.
Stay tuned, and happy paddling!
